The Royal Safari — Golden Triangle with Tiger Safari
7 Nights / 8 Days · Private Tour · Heritage and Wildlife Combined
Overview
India's two greatest experiences — its Mughal and Rajput heritage and its extraordinary wildlife — combined in one eight-day private journey. The Royal Safari follows the Golden Triangle circuit of Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra, and adds two days at Ranthambore National Park — one of India's finest tiger reserves and the only place in the world where Bengal tigers roam freely against a backdrop of medieval fort ruins.
This is the itinerary for the international traveler who wants it all: the Taj Mahal at dawn, a full day in Delhi's historic quarters, Jaipur's Amber Fort, and early morning jeep safaris through the forests of Ranthambore with a genuine chance of encountering a Bengal tiger in the wild. Most of our international guests who come to India for the first time choose either the Golden Triangle or a wildlife safari. This trip does both — and does them properly.

Good to Know
Best season for tigers: October to June. Ranthambore closes July 1 and reopens October 1. April and May offer the highest tiger sighting probability as animals concentrate around waterholes. November to February is most comfortable for the heritage portion of the itinerary.
Tiger sighting probability: Ranthambore has one of the highest tiger sighting rates in India — approximately 80% of safaris encounter tigers or fresh signs. Two safaris on Day 6 significantly increases your chances.
Visa: India e-Visa available for citizens of USA, UK, EU, and most countries. Apply at least 72 hours before travel at indianvisaonline.gov.in.
Arrival city: Delhi (DEL — Indira Gandhi International Airport).
Customisation: This itinerary can be extended with Varanasi and Madhya Pradesh tiger reserves (Kanha, Bandhavgarh) for a longer Central India wildlife circuit. It can also be combined with a South India wildlife or birding circuit — fly Delhi to Chennai after Day 8. Contact us to build your complete India journey.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrive Delhi Met and greeted on arrival at Delhi airport or railway station. Transfer to your hotel. Evening free to settle in. Delhi's energy is best absorbed slowly — a walk around your hotel neighbourhood or a rooftop dinner is the ideal first evening.
Day 2 — Delhi Sightseeing Full day Delhi — Old Delhi in the morning: Jama Masjid and the extraordinary sensory experience of Chandni Chowk, the 17th century bazaar that has never stopped trading. New Delhi in the afternoon: Humayun's Tomb (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, and the grand ceremonial boulevard of Rajpath — India Gate, Parliament, and Rashtrapati Bhawan by evening light. Overnight Delhi.
Day 3 — Delhi to Jaipur (259 km, approx. 4.5 hours) After breakfast, drive to Jaipur — the Pink City of Rajasthan. Check into your hotel. Afternoon free to explore Jaipur's bazaars at your own pace — the textile markets, gemstone dealers, and street food of the old city are all within walking distance of the walled city centre. Optional evening visit to Chokhi Dhani — a traditional Rajasthani village resort with folk performances and regional cuisine. Overnight Jaipur.
Day 4 — Jaipur Sightseeing Full day in Jaipur. Morning visit to Amber Fort — the defining image of Rajput architecture, a 16th century palace complex above Maota Lake with the extraordinary Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors) inside. Continue to the City Palace (still partly the home of Jaipur's royal family and housing a superb museum), Jantar Mantar (the world's largest stone observatory), and a photo stop at the Hawa Mahal. Afternoon free for Jaipur's famous markets. Overnight Jaipur.
Day 5 — Jaipur to Ranthambore (156 km, approx. 3 hours) After breakfast, drive to Ranthambore National Park — one of India's most celebrated tiger reserves. Check in to your jungle lodge. Afternoon visit Ranthambore Fort — built in 994 AD, this massive hilltop fortification rises 200 metres above the forest floor and is now entirely within the national park. Tigers are regularly photographed on the fort steps. The combination of medieval ruins and wild tigers in one landscape is unlike anything else in India. Overnight Ranthambore.
Day 6 — Ranthambore Tiger Safaris Two safaris today — morning and afternoon jeep safari into Ranthambore National Park (safari charges additional, booked at your own cost — we can arrange in advance on request). Ranthambore is one of India's most productive tiger reserves for sightings — its terrain of open meadows, lakes, and rocky outcrops gives better visibility than the dense forests of Central India. Beyond tigers, the park hosts leopards, sloth bears, marsh crocodiles, and over 300 bird species. Overnight Ranthambore.
Day 7 — Ranthambore to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri (265 km, approx. 5 hours) After breakfast, drive to Agra. En route visit Fatehpur Sikri — Emperor Akbar's ghost capital, a complete 16th century city in red sandstone abandoned after only 14 years when the water supply failed. The Buland Darwaza, the largest gateway in the world, and the Panch Mahal are extraordinary. Continue to Agra, check in. Optional sunset visit to the Taj Mahal gardens (exterior view of the Taj is stunning at dusk even without entering the monument). Overnight Agra.
Day 8 — Agra and Departure Early morning visit to the Taj Mahal at sunrise — the single most memorable experience in India, and the reason to be at the gate before 6am. The marble shifts from pink to gold to brilliant white as the sun rises, and the early hour means far fewer crowds. After the Taj, transfer to Delhi airport or railway station for your onward journey. (Delhi airport is 216 km, approx. 3.5 hours — allow sufficient time for your flight.)
